I think the Jesus was selling hope and fantasy. Obviously people have been saying they have raised the dead for centuries without evidence. So the Jesus was a huckster just like his multiple nutty adherents. The WT and others are simply dupes who have learned the only real thing about leveraging the Jesus is money and power over fellow believers.

Jehovah's Witnesses adhering to a commercialized lying and corrupt false prophet the Watchtower Corporation
by Finkelstein inafter doing some critical research upon the watchtower corporation and its activity as a religious publishing house one can clearly see this is a commercialized false prophet run by sinning apostate men.. so the question remains why are people adhering and supporting this organization thinking they are going to gain salvation come judgment day by jesus ?.
jesus laid out instructions in how to identify false prophets, maybe he should have elaborated and said something about false prophets who would sell his gospel for profit.
this relates to more than the men who ran the wts.

What JW Beliefs Did You Find Difficult To Explain?
by minimus inthere are a lot.
anything blood related was difficult to reasonably prove from a witness perspective.. 1914 was another one.
what can you add to the list?

I had a person at the door ask me if The Two Witnesses of revelation had happened already. I ran the scenario of the Society's officials being arrested and held until they were released and stood up to witness even more and how they were the two witnesses, then told the householder yes. I swallowed hard and waited. It came, "How?" I said, "let's stick to something we can agree on". I knew it was bullshit and had no way to defend it.

Shocking Example of JW Elder Corruption
by Roger Kirkpatrick inlet's play a game of believe it or not, shall we?
i'll relate a story, and you decide whether you believe it or not.
what would you think of an elder who told his daughter's fiance that he would kill him if he ever did anything to hurt his daughter?

I don't use the water reservoir either, I always feel like I'm drowning. Thought I was getting sinus infections from it till I found out I had a bad wisdom tooth that had been infected into my sinus, talk about painful. Tooth out, major antibiotics and problem solved. Gotta have the CPAP though.

I was a teenager when L & S was on, Happy Days too. I hated both with a passion. I LOVED Penny Marshal's work though. Anyone who was married to Rob Reiner is OK by me. Not for politics but for humor. She and her brother were outstanding.

My message to those who have always placed heavy burdens on its members
by RULES & REGULATIONS inin this kingdom hall photo, there will be some members who will probably leave the organization.
some will stay and suffer just to be with family.
i feel sad for those who stay just to please the family.

...and there it is, the rumor mill. These people eat each other up when backs are turned. "She's spiritually weak, he's going to college, they never have us over for dinner and he never gives pioneers gas money." You know the drill. See the empty chairs in the front row? One of those is my seat.

Coming out of the Woodwork
by Solzhenitsyn inwho was i to think that we would be left alone?
it has been a dream for 2+ months.
a few calls i let go to voicemail but now the wife and i are getting bombarded with text messages.. this isn't going to be easy.. since we're not looking to throw a grenade into decades of relationships, text replies thus far have been..."thank you so much.".

Do elders still ask inactive members to write a letter to disassociating yourself from the Congregation?
by RULES & REGULATIONS indo today's elders ever meet with inactive members and pressure them to write a letter disassociating themselves from the congregation stating that, ''you no longer wish to a jehovah witness"?.
i was baptized at the young age of 16. after turning 18, i stopped attending meetings, field service, and all jehovah's witness activities.
i wanted to be with my high school friends, go to rock concerts, have a girlfriend, and live like a normal teen.

When we received a letter of DA we were required to meet with the person to confirm it was their wish and not some emotional or otherwise influenced choice. We had to hunt them down and make an appointment with them. If they refused to meet, we took their word on it and DA'd them..I don't know how it is currently.

Dysfunctamentalism
by Incognigo Montoya inin reading through many posts over the last few months, i have started to form a viewpoint towards at least some of those witnesses/witness families, who are abusive and overzealous in their thinking.. arguably, many, if not all here, would say all pimi witnesses are overzealous in their thinking, but i sort of disagree with that.
without revealing too much about myself, my parents who are still in (father long time elder, mother regular pioneer), i consider stable and balanced in their views.
while i was shunned to a degree, after being disfellowshipped (they didn't go out to dinner or the movies with me or socialize with me publicly or very often privately, they didn't attend my wedding) they still spoke to me on the phone every few months, as i checked in on them and let them know i was doing alright (i moved out of state in my late teens).

What is the standard we must use to measure dysfunctional? I'm not being cheeky here. Every family has its quirks, even the most functional. I assume functional goes beyond providing food, clothing and housing for a family. There are emotional needs. In as much as all people have emotional scars, there is always emotional dysfunction on some level. A lack of demonstrable love, an excess of the same, can destroy an ability to function in society. By that measure we don't need WT rules to act as a magnifier of said personal flaws. I agree that WT attracts such instabilities by offering a framework for emotional sterility.
